Winter 2009 - The London borough of Southwark
Southwark is one of London's new trendy boroughs. Slap bang in the middle of zone one, Southwark SE1 is a new and exciting place to live, with a huge variety of theaters, restaurants and even cycle shops. In terms of transport, we think Southwark has got to be pretty much unparallelled. Waterloo, Southwark, Borough, London Bridge and Elephant and Castle tube and overground stations are all walkable from nearly every part of the borough. Bus services are equally frequent and widespread. It is even cheap to take a taxi home after a night out in west end!
Walking around Southwark on a weekday morning you will see whole armies of professionals, from Architects to Engineers, Advertising executives to government workers on their way to work...the place is a hive of activity and this ios what makes life in Southwark so exciting.
It is not at all surprising that well located and appointed property in Southwark is easy to rent out, and is likely to make a sound investment.

Around the cathedral are a number of quaint, cobbled streets with an array of shops to cater for all tastes. Spring 2009 - Southampton, England
The city benefits from fabulous transport links, whether by road, rail, air or sea. In recent years, major residential and commercial projects have transformed this historically rich city.
Southampton is particularly popular with young families, professionals and students. Northern areas of the city near the University of Southampton feature an abundance of student accommodation and house shares. With the effects of the credit crunch being felt and a slow down in property sales, it is unsurprising that the rental market in Southampton as a whole is booming.
Like many savvy landlords, our clients want to minimise the cost of finding tenants and setting up the tenancy. Most experienced landlords have come across poor letting agents that have cost them a lot of money but delivered little value for money. Many have told us they want to let out their property themselves, viewing the process as little more than an exercise in administration. We provide landlords that are willing to handle viewings and the administration of setting a tenancy up with the tools to save their hard earned cash. We are delighted that our client base is expanding rapidly in the Southampton area.
Winter has arrived and once again it’s time for the seasonal Rentfromtheowner.co.uk Spotlight on Area article. This time we explore Norwich. Situated in the county of East Anglia (also known as Norfolk) in the east of England, Norwich is some 100 miles north east of London.
There is no shortage of things to do and see in Norwich. A modern cultural city with beautiful heritage, vibrant nightlife, sophisticated shopping and mouth-watering restaurants, Norwich is the most complete medieval city in England and boasts over 1,400 historic buildings!
The housing boom came to Norwich in about 2005 and continued with increasing pace through to late 2008. Many new flats and houses were built, enhancing the city’s already impressive housing stock and adding to the private rental sector.
Like most UK cities, Norwich is home to a major university – The University of East Anglia - and some specialist colleges. These all create a significant demand for good quality rental property – both for students and staff alike.
Moreover, a number of major insurance and media companies are also located in Norwich bringing velocity to the housing market in general. Many landlords in Norwich have asked us to help them let their property, preferring to keep full control of the process, but relying on a professional partner like Rentfromtheowner to handle all the marketing, both on-line and at the property itself, in the form of a tailored ‘to-let’ board. In the process we save our clients lots of money – often running into thousands of pounds for the larger properties.
